Visiting Colton

This is one of the most powerful photographic experiences of my life. Visiting Colton begins with my arrival at the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial. I began by shooting a complete walk through from the vehicle and into this most sacred and tragic site west of The Great Mississippi. The lack of an otherwise steady and controlled take allows you to feel the vibration of each passing step and my visibly anxious grip on the camera itself. These seemingly chaotic clips are then intercut with photographs from within the museum itself, adjacent to the actual footprint of where the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building once stood. The decision to use this particular musical selection was determined earlier that morning in my hotel room while watching the motion picture "Notorious". The life and death story of Notorious B.I.G. (a.k.a. Christopher Wallace) who came straight out of Brooklyn to take the world of rap music by storm. A young and talented artist whose life was also cut short by hate and violence. I find this song to be the most appropriate and moving musical selection I have ever made. "I'll be missing you... little Colton."
